About The Charles Dickens Carolers
Since 1987, The Charles Dickens Carolers has provided satisfied clients with professional caroling ensembles comprised of the Southwest’s most accomplished vocal artists. We pride ourselves on the high musical and professional standards we maintain while bringing Christmas cheer to audiences throughout the Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego metropolitan areas. The singers we contract perform with the foremost arts organizations in Southern California, including the Los Angeles Master Chorale, Los Angeles Chamber Singers, Pacific Chorale, Los Angeles Opera, Long Beach Opera and San Diego Opera. All are dedicated, personable professional musicians with diverse experience in choral music, commercial and jazz music and music for the lyric stage. Several have appeared on film and television and may be heard on numerous film soundtracks. The Charles Dickens Carolers has been featured on national and local television and radio and counts among its valued clientele some of California’s most prominent businesses and organizations.

1) Does your company serve our area?
If you're in Southern California, yes! We serve all of the greater Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego metropolitan areas with singers who live near the location of your event. So if your event is in Pasadena, for example, we'll send a quartet of singers who live in or near Pasadena to sing for you.
2) How much will it cost for you to travel to our area?
Unlike many other caroling ensembles, we never charge a travel fee for engagements anywhere in the Greater Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego metropolitan areas.
3) What about Ventura, Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, Victorville, etc?
We also serve these areas, though we may require a two-hour minimum booking and/or a modest travel allowance for our singers. With gasoline prices nearing record levels, we like to give them a little something extra to cover the additional travel costs. Please contact us directly for further information.
4) What's the difference between the holiday show program and "ambient caroling?"
"A Charles Dickens Christmas," our holiday show program, is recommended for functions where the carolers will be the central focus of your event during their performance. For groups of up to about 50 guests, this program is usually sung without amplification. For larger groups wishing to book the show program, we recommend using amplification so that all your guests may enjoy the performance. You may supply your own or, for an additional fee, we'll bring a complete sound system with us.
"Caroling, Caroling," our ambient caroling program, is recommended for larger functions where the carolers may greet your guests at the door upon arrival, then stroll amongst them from room to room, providing ambient or "background" music. If the event features a sit-down meal, the carolers may travel throughout the room and offer a carol or two to each table.
If you're unsure which program might be better for your event, call us. With twenty years of professional caroling experience, we can recommend which package would be best for your event.
5) Do you sound and look as good in person as you do on the website?
Well, it's no accident that we've been satisfying clients throughout the Southland since 1987. While many caroling ensembles look alike, our carolers set themselves apart from the others with their musicianship and their vocal talent. Our singers are established, professional musicians - who perform regularly with the Southwest’s premier arts organizations. These artists bring a high level of musicianship and professionalism which is respected throughout the Southern California music community.
Our lavish and authentic Dickensian custumes, designed by a professional theatrical costume designer, have won rave reviews from our most discriminating clients for their stunning effect and attention to detail. We believe our ensembles look and sound even better in person than on our website - that's why we invite you to see and hear us in live performance to judge for yourselves!
6) How do your prices compare with other companies?
We encourage you to shop around and see for yourself. You'll find what our returning clients already know: that The Charles Dickens Carolers offers an unbeatable combinations of value and quality.
We've seen prices anywhere from $400 - $1,000 for a quartet of carolers for up to one hour, with several companies in the $400-600 range. Some companies don't put their prices on their website so they may negotiate their fees according to demand. You might pay them $500 for an hour on a Monday night and $750 for the same group on a Saturday night! Our rates are posted on our site for the convenience of our clients and remain the same throughout the season.
7) If you're so good, why don't you charge more? Isn't it true that you get what you pay for?
We could charge more if you really want us to! Seriously, we're able to keep our prices very competitive by keeping our costs low and passing most of what we charge our clients directly to the artists who perform for us. Many of the companies who charge much more than The Charles Dickens Carolers actually pay their singers less than we do! With that in mind, we urge you not to make the mistake of overpaying elsewhere, hoping that the quality will match the higher price tag.
